As a child, I often felt unsafe at night. For the sake of the story, we’ll call him my younger brother. This younger brother often struggling with sleep, asked me how I drifted off so quickly. Instinctively, I guided him through a simple meditation, encouraging him to focus on his breathing and match the peaceful rhythm of the other children around us already asleep. I reassured him that sleep was a safe and loving space where dreams could take him anywhere beautiful. It could be a place of peace and love. Looking back, I realize that I was teaching him mindfulness and meditation—tools that would later become essential in my adult life.
